Director, Dr Peter Elliott focuses entirely on dermatology and fills a much needed niche here in Logan City. The Clinic commenced operations in September 1998, and continues to grow and develop, keeping up with change in both human resources and technology – for our patient’s benefit. We have two fully equipped operating theatres, light therapy for psoriasis, PDT for superficial skin cancer and pre-cancers (this is a new service and involves non-surgical treatment of these conditions – watch for the next Skin Newsletter for more exciting details), full sterilisation facilities, ulcer management and counselling services. Logan Skin Clinic channels a lot of resources into the diagnosis and surgical management of skin cancer.
Dr Elliott teaches for the RACGP, offering an advanced term in dermatology for Registrars in six-monthly blocks. Registrars have their own consultation room, access to operating theatres and staff as well as their own diary and consultation service, which makes the six month term very busy and comprehensive.
Logan Skin Clinic boasts a close-knit and very talented staff, comprising Dr Elliott, Sister Jan Koboroff (Practice Manager), Nurse Sandi Hunt, Sister Sarah Hancock, Sister Karen McBride, Halette Johnson (Senior reception) and Keira Shanks (Reception). We are incredibly proud of the team – both for their patient focused care and for their commitment to professional development, putting this team right at the leading edge of education and expertise . . . . . . . and we have fun!
Logan Skin Clinic opens for extended hours, Monday, Wednesday and Friday as well as every second Saturday so that our working patients are not disadvantaged. We bulk-bill pensioners, health care card holders and Veteran’s and our fees for private patients are based on AMA schedule fees – making dermatology affordable for Logan.
